• Romans 15:5-6 “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

They say planning is the key ingredient in any successful endeavor – if the plan is faulty, the project implementation will also be faulty. Our God is the original project manager! In creating the universe, in creating Adam and Eve, in giving us the gift of salvation, God was in the process of implementing His Master plan. His grand plan includes each of us too! Our lives are a segment in His plan that began before time itself and goes into eternity.

The key focus of the Bible is the birth, life, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus. As we head into the season of celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus, let us look at the prophesies, that foretold of His birth as a baby in a manger. These prophesies are a reminder that God was indeed in charge and had planned every detail of the birth and life of His Son. He knew the end before the beginning.

Most of the Bible prophesies concerning the birth of our Lord Jesus took place 450 to 1500 years before our Lord was born.
  • Genesis 3:15 – Our Lord prophesied that He would come down in human form. He declared that there will be enmity between the devil (serpent) and the woman and her seed. It is normally the man that carries the seed, not the woman. But God was prophesying about the virgin birth. The fulfillment of the prophesy was declared in Galatians 4:4.
  • Genesis 49:10 – God prophesizes that He will be born out of Judah and that He will be born as a ruler. Scepter is a symbol of authority. The fulfillment of the prophesy was declared in Luke 1:32, 33.
  • Deuteronomy 18:15 – God, through Moses, prophesized that Jesus would be a prophet. The fulfillment of the prophesy can be found in Acts 3:22.
  • Psalm 2:7 – is a prophesy of what God would say about Jesus and Mathew 3:17 was the fulfillment of the prophesy.
  • Psalm 132:11 – here is a prophesy about how our Lord Jesus would be a descendant or David. We’ve seen this in a number of passages above.
  • Isaiah 53:1 – asks who has believed the report about Christ. John 12 shows how even though our Lord Jesus did many miracles, many did not believe.
  • Isaiah 9:6, 7 – reminds us that everything that we need is in His hands. If you allow the decisions of your life to rest on Jesus shoulders then you will have peace. No one can stop His work in your life.
  • Micah 5:2 – foretells that our Lord Jesus will come from Bethlehem. This too was fulfilled.
Every prophesy about our Lord Jesus’ birth was fulfilled in every detail. God is the same today. His words will come to pass – it will be fulfilled. Just as Psalm 40:7-8 says, our future is written in His Word and is in God’s hands. Our Maker has good plans in store for us and He will fulfill it. Hallelujah!
