At the moment technology spells easy living for most people. And going the way we are, life without it will seem like an uphill task in the future. Technology has pervaded deep in all spheres of human life and the postmodern world is colored with stories of how forward man has gone in making discoveries and gadgets that were probably far beyond imagination a few decades ago. But with every man-driven advancement comes a big question- Is it a boon or a bane?
For example, RDX or the TNT were created for constructive purposes, but man ended up using it to make atom bombs that have led to havoc and destruction of thousands of innocent lives. Hiroshima and Nagasaki still reel under the devastation caused that fateful night during World War II. Media, the most powerful influencing agent in today’s time, is another classic example. Media’s most ancient purpose was to print the HOLY BIBLE that was meant to spread God’s love and Word, but today media is used for reasons that is doing more harm than good. The future looks really bleak and scary, scary because we are treading on dangerous ground without having any sense of direction or responsibility. If media can be used for all the wrong reasons and if the infamous and the evil are utilizing the same for promoting worthless whims and fancies, what about we, the church! Its time for us to pinch ourselves and tap these advancements and use the same media to “plunder hell and populate heaven”. It’s a weapon that God intends us to use for His glory. Friends, I encourage you to join the revolution. We have but one life and many of us are working with the best software firms, BPOs, call centers or various other sectors. Having the knowledge of technology but just watching it rot away is meaningless. I encourage you to join hands, share your thoughts, knowledge and suggestions and sooner than you realize we will be the doing the impossible! Christ said that we are the light of the world. Let us not be the lamp hidden under the bed but let your light shine out bright, that God’s kingdom may advance. Mathew
