In an inspirational Christmas gesture, a city church is presenting its members a CD free to help overcome everyday rigours

Gifts are a huge part of Christmas celebrations the world over. And Bethel AG Church — the largest Englishspeaking congregation in Bangalore — near Hebbal flyover is making the festival special by offering its members a unique gift that will help them bust stress.
At the church's Christmas service on Saturday, each family in its 4000-strong community will receive a free copy of an in-house-produced scripture CD.
On this 40-minute audio CD titled Words of Life, the church's pastor, Rev Johnson V, has read scriptures of promises from the Holy Bible with soothing music in the background. There are a total of 210 promises, spanning from Genesis to Revelation on the CD. There are Christmas-related promises on the CD as well such as "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3.16).
Johnson says, “It's great to give people the Word of God as a gift. Promises from the Holy Bible give us comfort, healing and relieve stress. I hope people will listen to this CD as they drive or work at home and understand that God loves us, has great plans for us, He forgives us, He is with us and we are not alone in this world.’’
The CD was recorded in the studio at Bethel AG church, spanning over a month. “I never knew how the hours went by as I recorded it. The CD has a divine feel to it,” Rev Johnson says.
The church has made about 2000 copies of the CD for free distribution. The reverend says, "We initially planned to price it between Rs 25-Rs 50. Later, I felt we should give it free and the elders agreed. Wherever people listen to it, I hope it will be a blessing.”
AN INSPIRATIONAL WORK
Johnson, who has taken voice-training classes, says he was inspired to release this CD after encouraging reports from a similar audio cassette he released in 2002. He recalls, “A top official in McDonalds was going a rough phase when someone gave him a copy of that tape. He listened to it every morning for a month and witnessed a turnaround in his life. Patients experienced miracles. Such stories about that tape inspired me to release this audio CD.”
